Benefits of Dental Implants
Dental implants are one of the most popular and effective treatment options for tooth replacement. Their benefits include:
- Life-like appearance: They offer a natural-looking solution for damaged or missing teeth.
- Biocompatible: They adapt well to your oral tissues without causing irritation.
- Fuller smile: They restore missing teeth gaps and enhance the overall appearance of your smile.
- Improved function: You can bite and chew more comfortably as they are permanently secured in the jawbone.
- Bone loss prevention: By replacing the tooth root, implants can prevent further bone loss in the jaw.
- Durable: With proper care and maintenance, the results of this procedure can last a lifetime.
Types of Dental Implants
Our facility offers different types of dental implants for Tomball residents, depending on the number of missing teeth.
Single Tooth Implants
These implants are ideal for replacing one missing tooth in an arch. The implant post is secured in your jawbone and allowed to heal over a few months. Once it heals, we place a custom dental crown that matches the anatomy of your tooth.
Implant-Supported Bridges
If you have lost a few or more adjacent teeth in an arch, an implant-supported bridge might be the best option for you. Supported by two or more implants, they offer a stable foundation for the bridge, which looks and functions like natural teeth.
Full-Mouth Implants
Patients who have lost nearly all the teeth in their upper or lower arch can benefit from full-mouth implants. Multiple implants are placed in your jawbone that act as supporting pillars for a full-arch denture.
The Dental Implant Procedure
During your initial visit, we will evaluate your oral health and dental X-rays to determine if you are a good candidate for this treatment. The implant surgery begins with the injection of local anesthesia. Once the area is numb, we will place a small incision in the gingival tissues to access the underlying bone and insert implant posts.
Following this procedure, there will be a 3 to 6 months healing period, during which the implants will merge with the surrounding bone.
Once healing is complete, we will place the desired restoration—whether it is a crown, bridge, or denture—and securely attach it to the implants.
